List of Old Clockmakers (please contribute)

This is a list of clockmakers, watchmakers and allied trades we are trying to build up. The aim is to make a large database for anyone to get access to . It is made up from old records, clocks we get for repair or see, and from contributions from anyone who has a clock with a makers name on, preferably with details of the movement, and if possible a photograph.

It is very difficult to find information to separate actual makers from retailers, but even retailers dates can help date a clock or watch. Some makers even bought in movements and put their name on them, whether this was because they were busy or diid not have facilities is not known.

Please use the form for reporting makers or information on clocks or watches.However little the information you may have please send it anyway because it may help confirm details from elsewhere.

The idea is to set out in alphabetical order the names of makers (and in some cases retailers) of Horological goods in the UK and possibly other countries and as much extra details as practical.
